The Texas Tech Red Raiders can clinch a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game this weekend, but they'll have to go into Oklahoma and beat the Sooners.
The Red Raiders were off last week, and last took the field two weeks ago when they destroyed Oklahoma State 56-20 as a 3.5-point favorite. Graham Harrell continued his run at the Heisman Trophy with 456 passing yards and six touchdown strikes. Michael Crabtree caught eight passes for 89 yards and three more touchdowns to pass the 1000-yard receiving mark for the season.
The Sooners were also off last week, and they also posted a rout in their last game two weeks ago when they pummeled Texas A&M 66-28 as a 27-point favorite. Sam Bradford threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, while Oklahoma's running game rolled over Texas A&M. Chris Brown had three rushing touchdown while picking up 117 yards on 13 carries, and DeMarco Murray racked up 123 yards on only seven carries.
The Red Raiders and Sooners sport the top two offenses in the Big 12, so Saturday's game could be quite a shootout. On defense Texas Tech and Oklahoma have almost identical numbers, with the Red Raiders giving up 351.4 yards and 22.2 points per game, and the Sooners allowing 345.6 yards and 23.6 points per game.
When the Sooners and Red Raiders clashed last season Texas Tech came away with a 34-27 win as a 7-point home underdog in what was supposed to be a QB battle between gunslingers Harrell and Bradford. Harrell did his part with 420 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns, but Bradford didn't even make it through the first quarter after suffering a concussion. Without Bradford the Sooners' offense took too long to get back in sync and couldn't mount a comeback. Both star quarterbacks are healthy this weekend, and the Sooners are a 6-point home favorite.
