Another top-ten clash will take center stage for this weekend’s NCAA football lines, as No.6 LSU will head to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night to take on No.10 Auburn. This battle of the big-time Tigers is sure to get the online sportsbook industry buzzing.
No.6 LSU (2-0) at No.10 Auburn (3-0) – Saturday, September 20, 7:45 PM ET
LSU rolled to an emphatic 41-3 rout of North Texas at home, and their ground game led the way with 216 yards. 102 yards and two touchdowns came from Charles Scott, who needed only seven carries with scores of 39 and 43 yards. A solid rushing attack makes up for an experienced pair of quarterbacks, although Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee did combine to go an efficient 20-of-36 for 209 yards and a rushing major, but they were also picked off once in the contest. LSU will need a better performance than that to live up to their NCAA football odds of -2.5 this weekend.
Speaking of improved offensive performances, Auburn should have a better one since things cannot get much worse than last week’s 3-2 win at Mississippi State. The Tigers did outgain the Bulldogs 315-116, but they also fumbled three times and committed 12 penalties to keep Mississippi State in the game. Against a team like LSU, Auburn cannot afford to make these kinds of mistakes. Ben Tate led the way with 92 yards on the ground for the Tigers, who got only 154 yards on 14-of-26 passing from Chris Todd.
Auburn come in as underdogs on the road with their NCAA football odds of +2.5, but LSU has not won in their last four trips to Auburn. In fact, the home team has won eight straight times in this meeting of the SEC titans. Online sportsbook odds have given Auburn a half-point since the beginning of the week, due to their homefield domination of LSU recently.
