The Western Michigan Broncos were one of the few bowl eligible teams that didn't end up being picked for a bowl game last year. This season, they weren't snubbed though, as they will engage in NCAA football betting warfare in the Little Caesars Bowl against the Purdue Boilermakers on December 27th.
Odds have it, you haven't seen a heck of a lot of Western Michigan football this year. If that's the case, you definitely don't want to miss this one, as you will get one last shot to see WR Jordan White do his thing. He was the nation's leading receiver this year with 128 receptions for 1,646 yards and 16 TDs, and he is clearly going to get his share of looks in the Little Caesars Bowl.
You also won't want to miss QB Alex Carder, who will be playing in his first bowl game as well. Carder still has one more year in Kalamazoo, and this is going to be a great chance for him to get the job done and prove that he is one of the best signal callers in the conference. He threw for 3,434 yards and 28 TDs this year, and with two scores, this is going to be the second straight year in which he throws for 30 touchdowns.
Purdue was one of the many teams in the Big Ten this year that qualified for a bowl game with a very marginal resume. The squad was beaten by the lowly Rice Owls and was nearly trumped by the even lowlier Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders early in the year, and the only wins against bowl teams this year came against the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Boilers also only won one game away from home this year, but it happened to be the most important one. They topped the Indiana Hoosiers 33-25 on the road in their final game of the season to qualify for a bowl game.
RB Ralph Bolden has a knee injury that is likely going to keep him out of this game, and that's terrible news for an offense that also may not have its second leading rusher, RB Akeem Shavers, who has a head injury.
That being said, there will be a lot of pressure on QB Caleb TerBush, who threw for 1,803 yards and rushed for 227 more this year.
In spite of all of the injuries for Purdue, it is still lined as a 2.5 point favorite. The 'total' at 5Dimes Sportsbook on the Little Caesars Bowl odds is set at 60.
