The Texas A&M Aggies had themselves a very disappointing 6-6 season, and they are going to hope to at least finish above .500 for the campaign when they duke it out with the Northwestern Wildcats in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas.
A&M only went 3-9 ATS this year because it underachieved against the mass majority of the teams in the Big XII. However, we tend to think that QB Ryan Tannehill was a bit overhyped. He came in last year in relief of a man who most certainly underachieved as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate. He brought the team to the Cotton Bowl with a ton of wins down the stretch, and this year, the thought was that Tannehill would be able to bring the team to the BCS.
That being said, he didn't do terribly this year, throwing for 3,415 yards and 28 TDs against 14 picks. However, he didn't play defense this year, and that unit was terrible, giving up 28.7 points per game.
Northwestern is all over the place. This year, the team was able to upset the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road, but it also was beaten by the Army Black Knights, a terrible team. However, when you look back at it, the Wildcats did play six bowl eligible teams this year, but losing to five of the six was nothing to brag about. The Cats won four straight games from the end of October to the middle of November to go bowling.
QB Dan Persa has had a history of being able to put together some big time outings. He threw for 2,167 yards and 17 TDs against seven picks this year, though his legs were clearly put to the test after offseason knee surgery. A once mobile running back only accounted for 71 yards and a TD on the ground.
Northwestern is only 7-15 ATS in its last 22 games overall, and that is why the Meineke Car Care Bowl features college football bowl odds of Texas A&M -10 at Bookmaker Sportsbook. The expectation is that there are going to be a heck of a lot of points in this game, and the 'total' is set at 66.
