The Southeast football conference is generally considered by football experts to be the top overall conference in college football. From top to bottom they can compete and they have several strong teams that can play at the National Championship level. The SEC often beats themselves up and might not finish with a perfect record like most other conferences.
Georgia and Florida are both 2-1 favorites to win the SEC in 2008. Bookmaker.com has Auburn at 2.5-1, LSU 4-1 and Alabama at 8-1.
The SEC went 7-2 in Bowl games last year. Arkansas and Florida who was on a down year lost while Mississippi State, Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia and LSU all won their bowl games.
Against the spread is a different matter as the oddsmakers inflate the lines of some teams of the SEC because of the respect factor so pick your spots.
