The University of California has hired former Stanford basketball coach Mike Montgomery to be the new head coach.
Last week California fired longtime coach Ben Braun after coaching for the Bears in 12 years.
Mike Montgomery was with Stanford for 18 years before leaving the college ranks for the Golden State Warriors. He has not coached since 2006 and has a 547-244 record has a college coach which included 10 years at Stanford and 8 with Montana.
