Indiana Expected to Fire Sampson

The much anticipated announcement is expected today when the Indiana Hoosiers will announce the firing of Kelvin Sampson as their head basketball coach. The two parties will try and reach a settlement prior to the inevitable. Dan Dakich will be names interim coach.

Dakich is currently an assistant coach with Indiana and he played for IU and was an assistant under Bobby Knight.

The Hoosiers play Northwestern Saturday and an announcement is expected by Friday when athletic director Rick Greenspan must recommend action to the University president concerning at least five major recruiting violations.

Indiana is 1/2 game out of first place in the Big Ten.
