Football Betting - Over/Under

Just curious, are there magic numbers where you would lean toward buying a hook in football over/unders?


To help clarify what I'm askin', let me use this anaology...

Let's say you are playing the side and you're taking the dog. If the line is...

2'
6'
9'
13'

...you would be tempted to buy the hook, get those numbers at 3,7,10,14 respectively.


My question is... are there 'key' numbers in terms of total points where this logic would carryover?

Say 54' or 40' for example?

I'm not sure but I hate the total 48 1/2 because it seems the score is always 31 - 17. Happenned to me twice this year.
