Gotta go up front with Jake Long. That's where it starts. They can probably get one or two more decent O-lineman later in the draft.

Projected 2008 Miami Dolphins record: 6-10

History Of Parcells Drafts Shows He Is Inclined To Draft Top Linesmen Early And One Would Think Building A Team He Uses It On The Other Long.....but I Think Ot Jake Long Here Is The Smart Pick As Miami Showed Signs Of A Run Game Before The Injuries...with Jake Aboard Can Only Improve From Last Years...................i Know Jack...it Wasnt Much But Key Word "showed Signs"

Parcells is messing with everyone...he will take Dorsey who is by far the best in the draft imo

Agreed he is thje best but not in a 3-4 defense where he would most likely be wasted at the Nose Guard

Lose their entitlement to any draft picks. It was that kind of season.

A month ago I would have said trade the pick, but it is now obvious that no one wants it. I think Chris Long is needed more than namesake Jake, so I will go for him, but it is just a guess.

Sources: Dolphins agree to deal Long, will select OT No. 1 overall

The Miami Dolphins have reached a contract agreement with Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The announcement will come at a 1:45 p.m. news conference.

Despite speculation that Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells really had planned to select Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston or Virginia defensive end Chris Long, sources told ESPN's Michael Smith that since the Dolphins opened negotiations with Jake Long they were talking to him exclusively.

Long, a 6-foot-7, 313-pound senior who moved to left tackle in 2006 and started his final 26 games, was an All-America selection and Big Ten lineman of the year in each of his last two seasons.

Offensive line is considered the biggest need for the Dolphins, who went 1-15 last year.
