Starting new money management

Hi Mall

I'm here to get some advice on money management. I've read so many articles on this topic and I've decided to start this betting way!! Let me start off by saying.....I do very well in NFL but not so well in College. I've been looking at several members in here and watching the way they pick. Some do very well and some not so well. I see alot of members that bet with different amounts of units. After reading all the articles on money management it seems the best route is to bet the same amount on every pick. As your bankroll grows you increase the bet to equal no more than 2%.

I'm going to start with a bankroll of $1000 and pick between 20 and 25 picks a week. Mostly football but a sprinkle of Basketball. I'd like to know if anyone else bets this way and could give me some advice. Is this the right amount of picks a week or should I increase/decrease the number???

I'd like to hear from members that are disciplined in this way of gambling and how they are doing this year and years before.

Thanks

20-25 picks a week is too many if you are going to start with $1000.00. Hoops is always dangerous because you may or may not get a fair shake. What will your starting wager be? If it is $100.00/game, you can bankrupt yourself in no time at all playing that many games. You can lose it all at $50.00/game. Anything smaller and you are getting into meaningless fractions by increasing or decreasing wagers by 1 or 2%.

Stick to the sport you know best. If you do well in the NFL, limit your action to that. The colleges are just going to get tougher and tougher because the books have more information to set their lines up with at this time of the year than they did on week 1. Why start Sunday having to make up for Saturday?

Those are just two suggestions. The most important thing to do is stick to your comfort zone. Once you get out of it, the nerves kick in and the judgement goes out the window. GL.

Thanks Big Daddy....some very good insight. I will stick to just NFL and play 5 games a week with my unit set at $20. I've been doing pretty good at College so I'll add 5 to CFB. So 10 bets a week is a safe number
