TAB weekly review December 21

American sport, notably football (NFL ) and basketball ( NBA ), and football ( soccer )are the sports that have attracted the larger punters over the last couple of weeks.

Two investors came unstuck in the NFL match between Jacksonville and the Indianapolis Colts when they both backed the "unders". The first punter spent $100,000 at $1.75 for the game to be under 44 points and the second spent $50,000 at $1.87 when the total reducted to 43. Another game where the line changed but the punters missed was the NBA match between the LA Lakers and the NY Knicks. The first bet was $20,000 at $1.70 on the points to be 223 or less while the next was $25,000 at $1.82 for 221 or less.

Lets stay with the NBA and a succession here of winning wagers. $20,000 at $1.95 on Chicago and Clipperrs to produce 196 points or more, $20,000 at $1.65 on New Orleans to beat San Antonio, $16,380 at $1.05 on the Lakers to beat the Knicks, $15,000 at $2.10 on Cleveland to beat Denver, $14,000 at $1.17 on Boston to beat Utah, $11,200 on Boston to beat the Knicks, $10,960 at $1.03 on New Orleans to beat Sacramento, and from college ball : thre bets on the match betwen Vanderbilt and South Florida, all winners. $10,000 at $1.92 on combined points of 126 or less, $10,000 at $1.77 on the same total, and $10,000 at $1.18 on Vanderbilt to win.

In the world of football we had mixed success. In the A League there was a $20,000 wager at $1.90 on the Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast producing 2-3 goals, the final score was 1-1. There was a $20,000 bet at $1.90 on Melbourne beating Newcastle but the Jets won 4-2. We also took $10,000 at $1.90 on Manchester United leading at halftime and fulltime against Gamba Osaka - a winner.

South Africa, of course, beat Australia in the Perth cricket test recently but several punters took Australia to lead on the first innings, which they did. Those winning bets were : $10,000 at $1.62 and $10,000 at $1.57. One very good winning wager was $10,000 at $4.50 on West Indian captain Chris Gayle to be the highest scorer in his teams second innings. He easily achieved that by scoring 150 plus.
