TAB weekly review Feb 17

Our bigger punters were pretty much on the mark last week with their bets.

The best win came in the 4th one-day cricket match which Australia won, the bet was $30,000 at $1.50 in live betting. Also in live betting a couple of useful results in Super 14 rugby, which kicked off last weekend. The Brumbies were 0-19 down at one stage and in a dramatic turnaround they got back to lead 30-19 at which point several punters jumped in at just $1.06. One bet was $30,000 and the other $13,080. They were very lucky to survive when the Highlanders bounced back to lead 31-30 with a minute to go but a late dropgoal saved their bacon. The defending champion Crusaders won their first match but not before the Chiefs had greatly extended them. In live betting we took a wager of $15,400 at $1.50 on the Crusaders. Other successful live bets on the Crusaders were : $10,000 at $1.40 and $10,000 at $1.30. Not so good though for the investor who plonked $10,000 at $1.40 on the Hurricanes to beat the Waratahs. From the 6 - Nations and a winning bet there of $10,000 at $1.10 on Ireland beating Italy.

Back to the cricket and some mixed results here for punters. An unsuccessful wager of $12,600 at $2.15 on New Zealand winning the 20/20 match, a rather random bet of $10,000 at $1.90 on the method of first dismissal being caught - the batsman was bowled and the bet was lost. There was a winning bet on the Auckland Aces beating Wellington at 20/20 cricket - $10,000 at $1.06 in the run. We took $8,000 at $1.45 on New Zealand winning the 20/20 game and $7,000 at $1.60 on the 4th one-dayer - both losers.

In the world of basketball, both college and NBA , another week of sizeable bets. Winners were : $15,000 at $1.82 On Michigan State and Michigan producing 135 points or less, $10,000 at $1.09 on Portland beating Oklahoma City, and $9,496 at $1.22 on Pittsburgh downing West Virginia. A couple of losing wagers : $9,000 at $1.97 on the LA Clippers beating Charlotte, and $7,300 at $1.82 on the Lakers and Utah producing 216 points or less.

Other bets of significance during the week : $11,585 at $1.27 on Fognini beating Zampieri at the ATP Brazil ( winner ), $10,900 at $1.20 on Blake beating Serra at the ATP San Jose ( winner ), $10,000 at $1.80 on Celeris winning the Resene 1200 ( loser ), $10,000 at $2.40 on Taatledoya winning the Finace 1800 ( winner ), and $10,000 at $1.57 on Valencia beating Malaga - the football match was drawn.
