Question Contreras, Thornton or Putz

Which is the better pick up do you think?

Lidge back in Philly, another DL trip seems likely

Jenks about out as Sox closer, figure Thornton or Putz will start getting save ops.

Originally I picked up Thornton, but dropped him for Contreras today. I think Contreras is the better short term guy, he'll get all the save chances for a really good team, but once Lidge and/or Madson get healthy, he'll be out of the job, no matter how good he does.

Whereas Thornton or Putz I think will get spot chances throughout the year, but will never be the "Full time Closer" and couple that with a weaker team, and thought Contreras was the better choice. We'll see how I feel about that come Aug/Sept, when I've dropped Contreras cause he's back in Mid Relief, but for now I think he's the best guy

So much hype has been put on Thornton the heir apparent to the closer role. Contreras seems to be that spot starter/long relief guy. Putz has closed before and should assume the role but it is possible that they throw Thornton out their. Honestly I would look elsewhere.

in a 12 man league that starts 2 RP each, so that's 24 starters, coupled with everyone having a backup or 2, and there's not much left

these 3, or i could go with a starter that has RP eligibility like Richard for SD or Narveson for Mil.

Or a setup man that gets K's like Zumaya.

Not really an elsewhere to look - I've got KRod and Lindstrom as my 2 starters, would like a backup to spot start with Lindstrom based on matchup

If you got whip, k/bb k/9 as scoring cats, zumaya wouldnt be a bad pick up plus the occassional save.
