Just had my draft...

ok...like last year. 16 teams - KEEPER league. holdovers from last year were

1B VOTTO
3B ZIMMERMAN
OF PENCE
P HAMELS
P CJ WILSON

my question is who do i assign my next 3 year contracts to out of these players:

C WIETERS - BAL
2B BECKHAM - CWS
OF MARKAKIS _ BAL
OF LOGAN MORRISON - FLA
1B SMOAK - SEA
P - P HUGHES - NYY

i can pick 2 to assign 3 year deals too. leaning markakis and hughes

ALSO: I lose Hamels and CJ Wilson after this year!

thoughts?

Personally, I'd go with Wieters (position scarcity and I do think he will improve alot) and Beckham (multi positional player and with the Dunn signing and that lineup I thin khe will only get better after a shitty year last year).

my 2 cents...

I would take a flyer on wieters as well. going to be in his 2nd full season now and has a chance to become a top 5 catcher and like quiksilver said, the scarcity at catcher, you could have a gem locked up for a bit.

Phil Hughes is sometimes so up and down. he has good stuff, but he can easily blow up and turn back into a bullpen guy. yankees getting older and older as well and in the next 3 years, posada, arod and jeter arent going to look too good.

dont know much about smoak and morrsion to give you an opinion but i would say try weiters out.

Smaok is the guy that they traded for from Texas I believe. Big bat but reminds me to much of Richie Sexton. Plus, being in Seattle's ballpark and with that lineup I don't see him doing too well for the foreseeable future.

Not too familiar with Morrison but have heard good things about him.

Kind of curious...why did you keep CJ Wilson?

You are losing two pitchers next year so I'd say Hughes for sure.

My 2nd guy would be Wieters also, but its a toss up between him & Markakis imo. Lean Wieters because of the Catcher position.

good luck

we have a thing in our league called a SLEEPER KEEPER. its a guy you either drafted after the 13th round or picked up on the waiver wire the previous year. you can protect him one more year on your team. hence why i kept him...

im leaning hughes and wieters.... hughes because i am losing two Pitchers and need someone around for next year for sure and wieters because of catching becoming so tough to get a good guy locked up for a few years

yup, heard about it and already looking at the waiver wire for a suitable replacement for a few weeks....but with 16 teams and keepers the pickings are slim

nothing really. picked up Carlos Gomez from MILW BREWERS as he is playing pretty good right now and in a lineup that will score some runs. especially if he is at the top of the lineup. will just play him the first couple of weeks and get Ross back
