We will see.........

Just made a big trade in a very tough 10 team league.....I gave up Hamilton, Pappelbon, and Halladay (ya, that Halladay!) for Lind, Reynolds, Lester, and Romero (SP Toronto)....I still am good at closer with Francisco, Qualls, and Gregg, and I like the k's Lester provides and Romero matching up with a #4 or 5 starter usually....I think Hamilton will get back into the swing of things, but Lind will put up similar numbers throughout the rest of the year and is healthy. The big one for me is Reynolds.....I had crap at 3rd base and now have a solid guy that can mash and steal some bases. At first glace, most are probably like "Damm....WTF is he doing?" Thoughts?

Before (now):
C V. Martinez
1B Votto
2B DeRosa
3B Blalock (Reynolds)
SS Young
OF Hamilton (Lind)
OF Choo
OF Damon
Util Hawpe
Bench N. Morgan

no need to reread sir......I respect your opinion but Qualls, Gregg, and Francisco will give me plenty to take down saves on most weeks in my H2H format as they have all year long.....I only had Pappelbon a few weeks after acquiring him in another trade and was consistently winning saves without him...

also have plenty of fantasy baseball titles.......you?

thanks WC......I know it looks crazy when you see that I shipped those big names, but I trully feel I improved my team.....Lind and Hamilton are a wash, I will continue to take down saves most weeks even without Pappelbon (I was automatic with him but still fine without), and Romero and Lester are solid. Reynolds provides me a stud at 3rd instead and I don't have to keep rotating guys like Blalock, Blake, Lowell (early on), etc. Sucks to lose Halladay but with Lester and Romero I can get four starts some weeks instead of two from Roy. I will keep this thread updated for fun!

Wed 7/9/09....
Hamilton 0-5, Pappelbon SV, Halladay DNP

Lind 1-5 with a HR, run, RBI, Reynolds 0-4, Lester/Romero DNP

I respect opinions, but most guys like yourself simply say "horrible trade" and things of that nature because you are caught up in star power......I traded away Soriano and Pierre for Johnny Damon as well.....a lot of people are still holding on to guys like Soriano just because he is a "star"......believe me, I know the game of baseball (just look at the green in the sig!) and I know fantasy baseball as well (plenty of championships).....I would love for someone to actually back up their opinion as to why the trade is sooooooo bad.....back up your opinion instead of just getting locked in on names I shipped.....fantasy is about numbers and I promise you....This trade will help me produce more runs, HR's, and RBI's on a week to week basis as well as give me more wins and K's on the pitching side.....Am I wrong?

Well i have Soriano and have been trying ot move him like crazy

I would never trade the best closer or pitcher in the leagues...ever

Ace pitchers with ERA's under 2.5 are gold
Saves are gold too and i would never trade a guy like papelbon for the players you got.

JMO.

But you did get two great pitchers, i just think you sent away some valuable pieces that you prob shouldve kept

in a trade you are going to have to give up some value to get the pieces you need for your team....the guy I traded with is a typical "big name" guy and my main target was Reynolds.....I desparately needed a 3rd baseman and Reynolds provides power and speed.....I was fortunate enough to be stacked with four closers when only two are required....I could "afford" to give up Pappelbon and still be able do well at saves with my other three.....Romero and Lester provide me possibly two extra starts a week with more k's and a possibility at more wins....like I said before Hamilton is great and I am a huge Ranger fan, but Lind WILL PRODUCE ON THE SAME LEVEL WITH JOSH THIS SEASON!!

I ackowledge he might still have a run in him but I needed outfield help NOW......that's why I went after Damon.....the guy I traded with had lots of outfielders and could afford to sit on Soriano and wait till he gets his shit together......Damon is gonna hit as many HR's as Soriano playing in that little league field in NY and will score way more runs and probably steal more bases.....bottom line is Soriano is playing hurt and I don't think he will be the same guy he usually is anytime this season....
