12 year old sixth grader wins Miss golf
Lydia Gumm, a 12-year-old sixth-grader from Radcliff, has been named the youngest Miss Kentucky Golf winner ever.
Gumm, who plays for North Hardin High School, finished second in the state championships earlier this month and won the honor by leading a season-long point race.
"It's a good feeling," Gumm said. "Miss Golf has been one of my goals for a long time, and to be able to accomplish it now is a great feeling. I know that I still have six more years to try and do it (again)."
Gumm edged Caldwell County seventh-grader Emma Talley for the award. State champion Nikki Koller of Russellville finished third on the point list.
Either these two girls are tougher than hell or the rest of the state is just getting started on the golf game....Might be interesting to see where these two end up on the national scene. I know that the state had a girl named Whitney Wade (i think thats her name) that is playing for an SEC team right now. I think that she had some of the same credetials as this young girl....Many states will not allow elementary or middle schools students to participate with high school students.........
