Thumbs down 25 years possible for Donaghy is a joke

I am not defending Tom Donaghy or excusing him in any way for what he has done to the NBA. However facing 25 years for this crime is a complete joke. Punish the guy - fine but do you realize how many murderers, rapists, child molestors and other hardcore crimes that the guilty party received less than 25 years? It's just absurd.

I realize he has not been sentenced yet but if he gets more than 5 years it's a big joke. JMO

He will not get anything near 25 years. He may get 3-5. Maybe as much as 10. He followed the script perfectly, not coping out to "fixing" but to giving out information and "providing picks" for games. This is exactly what he was suppose to do. He did not rat anyone out. He did not go into any detail as to how things were done. From an organized crime point of view, he was perfect. This is how they want things to be done.

Things are looking up for Donaghy:

1. In prison, Donaghy will still be able to officiate games in the yard and earn lots of extra cigarettes.

2. In prison, Donaghy will also be able to referee football and could be a very big help to Michael Vick and the Cons when they play the Guards.

3. In prison, Donaghy won't ever again be forced to attend a Memphis Grizzlies game.

4. In prison, Donaghy will be subjected to threats and to vulgar language, but at least he won't have to listen to Mark Cuban.

"Donaghy was fined $500,000 and must pay at least $30,000 in restitution to the government."

What about restitution to the bettors that he stiffed??

The government should send out a checklist of all the games he fixed to all bettors. We can check off whichever games we bet and the $ amount and we will receive the money shortly.

True he didn't rat and most likely reinsured he'll be financially set when he gets out.

Jack I think they will have no option but to give him at least 5 years or more, there has to be a real message sent here to officials/players in sports that if you get yourself involved in these type of messes that you are going to pay a high price for it, even with him cooperating. As for not ratting anybody out, time is still early and would not be surprised to see more shoes drop from this so don't think he is a hero to anyone yet, it just might be a matter of time before the shoes drop.

Depending on the results of an investigation into two of the games involving the Suns, Arizona may prosecute him.
