Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi among nominees for Rock Hall of Fame

Alice Cooper is among the 2011 nominees announced today by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 are Alice Cooper, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis.

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year's nominees had to release their first single no later than 1985.

Seen the ones in Bold Live........................

Alice Cooper is a lock. Surprised he's not already in. He invented theatrical rock and roll and has been ripped off by other bands for the past 40 years.

I think Cooper, Bon Jovi (25+ years of hits), and Neil Diamond all deserving.

Itd be good if Donna Summer gets in, she had a very important career. When they call you a 'King' or a 'Queen', you got to be a shoe-in.

Alice Cooper, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, Donna Summer, and Tom Waits all deserve it. Changed or heavily influenced music of their era, or just did it really big for a long time.

Tom Waits has been doing it for a real long time, plus he was Mr. Nick in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

LL, maybe, but I lean no. He peaked musically from 86 to 93 or so, and is probably known more for TV and crappy movies that I'm Bad and Goin' Back to Cali.

Joe Tex and Chuck Willis, no.

Chic and J Geils? A couple of big singles each. Chic wasn't even a real band. Peter Wolf left and J Geils never did much after that.

I don't even know who Darlene Love or Laura Nyro are.

Seen Dr. John, too, Leaf. Jazzfest and when he's played at Tip's in the Quarter. Been one of the real sounds of NO for 30 or 40 years.
