ALS or 'Lou Gehrigs disease'

a buddy of mine (25 years old) just was diagnosed with this ... anyone know someone who dealt with this? his 'symptom' was that he started slurring everything he said and it got to the point in about a 3 month window where it is virtually impossible to understand what he is saying ... really sad. no other symptoms thus far though. going to see antoh specialist at Upenn this week.

there is no cure. It will slowly rob him of all physical abilities. The brain of course will stay sharp until the very end.

I had a cousin whose wife died from ALS (she was in her early 50's at the time). She got to a point where she essentially took her own life, by refusing her feeding tube.

It is a horrible disease.

"Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice." And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV."

Agree with Keith. I lost a good friend to it and it was a tough last few years.

A second cousin of mine dies from it two years ago. There is no cure and it's painful to see someone slowly die.
