American and Import Cars...

I always said that I would never by an import of any kind ever since I was 16....but with the price of gas now and what it will soon be, the American Auto makers have really let me down as far as MPG, costs and performance with their autos...they may force me to buy an import due to them lagging behind for all these years....I have been doing alot of researching and most imports are high on performance, durability and MPG and rate higher than the big 3....what does everyone else think?? any good suggestions on a vehicle for a family of 6??

There's little difference in "Imports" and "Domestics" anymore all of them are made all over the world. How much are you looking to spend? Sounds like you are lookin for a minivan if you want good mpg and have family of six. I like the Nissan Quests they look kinda cool and have mad features. Depends on how much you want to spend, new/used etc.

d-ray for a family of six i would reccomend the FORD EXPEDITION. monster of an SUV bro. style and power like no other in its class. i really like the LINCOLN NAVIGATOR ALSO. a close third is the INFINITI Q56 (BEAST).

and yes imports are building factories all over and they are really trying to tap into the market in texas where the ford f-150 has been killin the market down there for years. alot has o do with politics and cost cutters. the big 3 are in some major trouble right now but i do see them making a turn around when things finally settle down and they all get their work force within a reasonable number according to the product they ship out. i never knew how much buying an american car meant to so many families until i moved to motown bro. it affect people and the general public dont realize it. i personally think the unions are what seperaes imports ability to turn a profit on their vehicles. i know for a fact that every expedition and explorer generates a profit between 10 and 13 per vehicle if i am not mistaken. dont quote me there but its plenty close and for every ford focus made they lose 1k. its complicated but i know lots of people in the auto industry and they give me the inside scoop. if you decide to get a new truck i may be able to help you out with a discount bro. if jack doesnt mind and you do decide to buy FORD tell him to give you my email and we can talk about possibly getting you a pin number to get the discount . i will have to check and see if my long llost brother is eligible for the discounted a-plan.

just remember, Ford trucks were designed to eat up a lot of gas. Chevy trucks are much more conservative.

Lumping the debate between American and imports in general does not tell the whole story. There are plenty of imports out there that are complete and utter garbage. The big 3 are turning it around and them some with their vehicles if you haven't noticed. The problems of GM, Ford, and Chrysler are labor, retirement and healthcare issues. Their product quality has really improved a lot in the last 10-15 years.

Family of 6~

you need either XL size SUV orrrrr MINI VAN~

i would say Price and Value and Performance...

you have to start with Toyota~ (Siena)
KIA (is really cheap, but quality is less than average)
Honda (is good performance, but car might not last as long)
I am not too sure if Nissan's and Infiniti's XL size SUV is good MPG, but they are BEASTSSSSSSSSSS (Big HP and great designs, $$$ and eats up gas)

Dannyray my last three cars have all been Toyota's and I have been more than satisfied with all of them. Toyota's can be somewhat vanilla and lack the plush features of other cars but the reliability is second to none. For a family of 6 I would look towards the Sequoia, Highlander, or Sienna.

Isnt the technology Honda is using for Hybrid our, as in US, invention?

Yet we fall behind in deploying it?
