Any Carl Yastremski fans?

Ran in to him recently. He lives in the area. Not overly friendly but not rude. Ha

How known is Yastremski outside Boston?

Is he known like some of the high profiled Yankees of that time?

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Always heard he wasnt real fan friendly. Fans who think alot of him would have to be in their 60s and 70s, so being you live with alot of oldtimers, he probably has some there who remember him.

You should have struck a pose: left handed stance, hands way up over your hand rocking the bat. Would have high fived you or laughed his ass off depending on what day you caught him on.

I saw Yaz play a lot when I was just a kid and his '67 triple Crown season was amazing especially in the month of September when he carried Boston to the pennant. He also was the greatest defensive LF I ever saw. His career lasted too long, he should have retired earlier. I think the 1st guy to have 3000 hits/ 400 HR's in the AL.

Was never a Red Sox fan but always respected Yaz as a player. As a person I was turned off by him when I met him(well, didnt actually meet him but was in his company) at a charity golf tournament where he and Bobby Orr were there to promote the charity. It was a shotgun tourney and everyone was on putting green when Orr showed up. Orr was fabulous and mingled with everyone on putting green sharing stories and just being plain friendly. Acted just like one of the guys. After 10 or 15 minutes Yaz showed up and everyone saw him walking towards putting green. It was like he had blinders on and simply walked past everyone and went directly to Orr. Shook Orr's hand, talked to him and him only for a few minutes and then walked away without saying a word to anyone else. I stood there stunned and couldn't believe what I saw.

Each 4some had the opportunity that day to play 1 hole with either Orr or Yaz. They drove around in carts and would join a group and play a hole with them. Luckily for us, as we were putting out on one hole we notice a cart drive up with Orr in it and he joined us for the next hole. Other than the 2 holes-in-one Ive had, it was the greatest experience ever for me on a golf course.

Bottom line, Yaz was a great player but an ass of a person...

BTW, this occured about 30 years ago, not recently...

I think if you bring up the word " Yankee' he still cringes.

he can be a tough one as far as autographs go... I have every living major leaguer on signed official major league baseballs, but him.. Some dealers have em but I don't trust them, cuz I don't think he does too many shows for dealers.. he likes the public, if you can ever find him.
I think he is ok at spring training too

LOL, all he liked when I "found" him was the celebrity. He could care care less about the public that day. He didn't even show up for the dinner after the golf... but maybe he has changed after 30 years

I have a broken bat of his from spring training signed by him, we beat the autograph plum off of it hitting rocks but you can barely see parts of it. I lived in Winter Haven
