Any Chicagoans going to Rivers Casino Monday?

I'm going to check it out Monday Night, it should be a mob scene.

Anybody else going during opening week?

It's going to put those Indiana boats in further trouble (Ameristar/Majestic Star).

River Casino closes on first day after being bombarded with gamblers | Mail Online

It's a Royal Crush: Casino has to close on its first day after being bombarded with gamblers
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

If it was a game of poker, this would have been a Royal Crush.
A casino that opened for the first time yesterday was bombarded with so many visitors - that it had to close its doors.
Thousands of would-be gamblers flocked to the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, after waiting 11 years for it to open.

Gamblers: Eager crowds gather outside the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, yesterday, forcing owners to keep people away
But within an hour of it opening at 9am, the vast number of visitors to the gambling hot-spot had caused nearby roads to become clogged as long traffic jams formed.
Police were even forced to issue warnings urging residents hoping for success to stay away from the attraction.

Managers took the unusual step of being so inundated with guests that they had to 'advise' any others thinking of entering to stay away.
As crowds surged through the entrance, roads remained at a standstill throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
'Due to the tremendous interest this afternoon in our grand opening, our casino and entertainment complex is at capacity,' a casino spokesman told the Chicago Tribune.
'We would ask our guests to consider delaying their visit. Please call back later'.

Jackpot: Casino workers in dresses welcome guests outside the facility yesterday morning

At last: Rivers Casino bosses cut the ribbon and give the green light for the masses to clog the roads as they descend on the building
Police said traffic was clogged from drivers heading to the casino with the city's River Road and Devon Avenue areas particularly affected.
Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini, who was directing traffic, said the casino car park had to be partially closed because of the crowds
He said the area faced gridlock at around 10:10 a.m. - just an hour after the casino opened.
'This isn't what normal traffic will be like,' he said. 'The lots are full and it's up to (guests) to find a place to park.'
The casino's developers were initially granted planning permission in 1999 but the licence had remained dormant.
But the facility finally opened after years of waiting from residents. It will now be open 9 a.m. to 7 a.m. every day, giving gamblers plenty of time to get inside in the future.
The 147,000-square-foot casino has more 1,050 slot machines and 48 table games along with six restaurants and live entertainment.

Wow, the amount of people there and the traffic!
Like the story says, it was unreal.

All these people from Chicago on here must not like going to the casino, since no one responded. Shocking from a gambling forum.

I guess all the gamblers live in Pennsylvania around here, they sure don't live by me.

We didn't have a prayer going H2H.

My friend was bitching all night about this. He plays $100 min, and usually 2 hands, and won't sit at a table with us just to have fun at the $10-$25 tables. Moped around all night without playing.

Don't go for a while, if you don't like crowds, it's going to suck for you. No one knew where they were going and everyone was walking like they were on their Sunday Stroll.
