Any of you guys go to the College World Series ?

I have lived in Omaha about 10 years and try to go to a few games each year. It's really a good time.
Tickets went on sale for all of the games today with exception to the championship games and wow did they go quickly. My wife and I were both signed on and ready to go when the sales opened and we got shutout of both Saturday games, got 4 tix to a Sunday game in Bob Uecker's row, and got 4 for a mid week game. Can't believe how fast they go and then within flippin minutes they are on ebay at a premium price. How do they do that ?
I truly hate ticketmaster.

They don't go to ticketmaster until they are almost sold out cause of the corporate deals. I'd love to go to college WS sometime

Was in Omaha last year. The town went ape over the WS. Read recently that Omaha will be building a new park for the WS. Apparently the local triple A team won't be playing in the new park. There wasn't anything wrong with Rosenblatt so I guess the new park will only be used only for local high schoole sports and for the college WS. Do you have an update on that

cantpickem, as of right now, the new park is only for the college world series. That is not very brilliant , especially in these times. The Royals are thinking about moving to yet another new park, and actually building it out towards my neck of the woods in West O. Once again, not very bright , although the newness of the Royals in West omaha will get some new attendance but it will be short lived.

As far as the downtown stadium for the college world series goes, it will be nice- great area , new motels going up all around . The Qwest Center is right next door ( a really nice concert , etc place ). It will be fun down there.
They are actually thinking about getting a double A or single A team to call it home. I'm like, what ??
As of right now, the college world series will be played in a new stadium , downtown Omaha, in 2010.
Anyway, a new mayor will be elected in a month or so, so things may move quickly

It really is a fun time- lots of eye candy when teams like S. Carolina especially, make it here. Texas, LSU, ASU, etc

I read in the local news that Bellevue was trying for the park. Don't see that happening No growth, Businesses are already moving out of Bellevue. No magnet to draw. Probably go out west. GL. Locating the park will be easy compared to getting the fans to show up for the games. I'll give it 5 years and they will start talking about doing something else with it.
