Anybody interested in psychology

Just thought some people might find this interesting, especially in light of recent events nearby. In case you do not know, The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV is the book from where psychological diagnoses are based on. Believe me, I know. Anyhow, without further ado and I quote:

301.81 Narcissistic Personality Disorder--A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more ) of the following:

(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates acheivements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate acheivements)

(2) is preocccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

(3) believes that she or he is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high status people (or institutions).

(4) requires excessive stimulation

(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to acheive his or her own needs

(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify witht the feelings and needs of others

(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Unlike Axis I disorders like depression that are considered amenable to treatment, personality disorders are classified as Axis II disorders that are much more enduring in nature and difficult to treat. Many psychologists will tell you that people who have persoanlity disorders do not get better regardless of the treatment prescribed. Therefore, they will continue to act out interpersonally in dysfunctional, pathological ways consistent with their illness.
