Anyone in Charlotte, NC?

We're thinking about a move south to Charlotte next summer and wanted to check out the prices of housing and stuff.
Which areas would you recommend we shoot for or avoid?
My g/f has 2 kids also so a decent school district would be important.

Thanks.

you need to stay away from the "Shamrock" area....the Albermarle area....

Pinview/Mathews areas are generally nice...the Gastonia area is a crap hole

in the city:

the established neighborhoods are dilworth, eastover, sedgefield, myers park, chantilly, elizabeth (all expensive but not compared to up north for being so close to or in downtown relatively, no upside though already high priced and established)

a little outside downtown but in the city, ballantyne, cotwold, steel creek---ballantyen is nice suburbia

less established close to downtown but being de-urbanized slowly if you catch my drift

cherry, belmont, noda, optimist park

If you dont mind living amongst young professionals and close to downtown yet lving around the corner from quiet yet ghetto folks with homes that can only go up this is where it at.

outside the city (surrounding cities) Matthews, Concord, Kanappolis (huge Dole research center being built here, lotta upside)

more quiet of course (bigger lots), 20-30 mins outside downtown

Lake Norman area is very nice but getting crowded

heres a good link too

i live in eastover, let me know if you need anything else

That's great, Romo thanks.
We're definitely looking for suburbia-like conditions since our nights out are few and far between with her 2 kids here.
But being relatively close to the city is a plus too.
Thanks again.

why is romanoski always referred to as romo? makes no sense seeing that it would be as easy to say roma..but is roma bad because it usually refers to gypsy romanians?

his name was once Romeo. I think people shortened it up by dropping the e
