Anyone Else Have a Smoking Ban...

in their State. New Jersey passed a law that went into effect about two weeks ago that persons could not smoke inside Buildings/Restaurants or Bars. The only place inside people could smoke are Cigar Bars/Smoke Shops or physically on the Casino Floors in AC. I dont smoke but have worked in Casinos and Bars my whole life and had to breathe this Sh*t in. I currently run a bar and it is great coming home at night and not having to throw your clothes right in the washer and Jump right in the shower. In my opinion it is a great law. Was wondering if anyone else had any experience with it!!

Yes, Lucky, we have one in Hennepin County where Minneapolis is located and also in the city of St. Paul

It is nice to go to bars and especially the music clubs in Minneapolis area now and be totally smoke free. We have seen a dramatic drop in revenue though for the bars and restaurants.

Are you worried about that?

I am worried, but being two weeks in I havent noticed a change yet, but it is the whole state so if people are going to go out they have to deal with it wherever they go they cant just drive to the next county. They would have to drive to PA or Delaware and they are both about 45 minutes from my bar. I think the real test will be during the summer when all the outdoor bars open up!!

Calfornia and new york i believe were the first to do it.. i quit smoking almost 5 months ago and i still dont agree with the law. it should be a freedom and left up to the owners if they want there facility's smoking or non or both. Then the customer can choose what best suites them.

We have one in Ontario. Hit some of the bars and clubs hard. In some cases the bars built up actual smoking areas inside an enclosed area to get around it.

Been like this in Cali for awhile. I agree with it completely. I'm not a smoker but I have friends who are smokers and they like it as well. Especially in restaurants where kids may be subject to the smoke.

i disagree, it messes with others who dont smoke. I can see a place being 100% smoking and people choose to not go in if they dont smoke. But what about the workers who dont smoke? I dont think they should be punished.

Can't those workers choose to work someplace else?

I do see your point that is why Im glad the whole state did it so when someone complains I can just shrug and tell them to go to the Casino floor or outside. It is still great not smelling like smoke everynight!!
