Anyone know where i can get a Health or Phys. Ed Teaching Job?

I am a recent graduate here and graduated in 2008 with Health and Physical Education. I currently got a teaching job at my old High School in Special Ed. I did not major in it but have coached Football and Basketball here for a few years so i know the principals and superintendent well so they had an opening and i took it. I dont necessarily love what im doing now but can not find a teaching job in Phys. Ed. I have looked all over and me and my wife will move if we have to. We dont mind really staying here or leaving to go else where. I have a lot of family that lives in the Ft. Lauderdale area in Florida and have spoken to some people down there but doesnt look as if they have any openings for Phys. Ed. If anyone knows of any openings or has any suggestions let me know. It just is pretty frustrating because i know i can make more money then i do now and eventually want to achieve my goals of getting a Health and Physical Education teaching job. I dont like that we have very little class time in these 2 areas in our schools now and childhood obesity is soaring high. Schools want to focus more on our core subjects which sucks because i believe Health and Physical Education is the most critical subjects for our youngsters and people dont see it. I mean now it seems like kids sit inside and play video games all night after school and during the school is where some kids get there physical activity and exercise. I know when i was younger i would play outside with my brother all the time playing basketball and football and baseball and we both hated being inside. Anyways let me know if yall here of anything. Thanks

Truegrinder - the schools here in Florida hardly even offer PE anymore. It's kind of ridiculous.

Plus all my PE teachers down here were all lesbians

Have you ever tried training or working at a sports club or resort? Resorts in Cali are always looking for trainers or health nuts to improve their clubs or programs. Just a thought...I know a few guys doing it in San Diego.

Special Ed is tough! I guess it might be different if your working with mild or severe students, but either way its a tough field to stay in for very long. Have you thought about subbing? Some of the schools will pay 100 a day for teachers that have their degree...I know its not a lot, but maybe you could make an impression in a nice school district making some connections allowing you to maybe slide into a good position. Also, I think Rev will have some advice for you in the education field. Good Luck
