Anyone read "Ball Four" by Jim Bouton?

Just finished this book and I really like it. I know it was originally written over 40 yrs ago but I still found it very very likeable

Anyone else read it?

Its basically like a diary/journal of a pitcher in 1969 as he goes up and down from the minors to the majors, gets traded, and tells of everything that happens in between, its a cool read

Wasnt accepted well at the time thought because it kinda "outed" a lot of what goes on in the clubhouse

Have a couple of these I was going to give away in some contests. Excellent book and I am not a big reader but I liked this one.

I'm in my 50's...

I read it, when It first came out; and was shocked these MLB players who I idolized were such bad boys. It wasn't all the fluff I was getting reading my baseball cards, and SPORT magazine.

Bouton took much abuse at that time for writing this. A generation later, the impact isn't so obvious.

I enjoyed it to. Funny how the reminder 'That Girls Like It To', wasnt really preached much outside of Hugh Hefner's magazine.
