I want to know how Apple tv works in general. Do you get the same picture quality that your tv can give out, or are you limited my the stream on your computer? I was always interested in this product but really didn't know it capabilities. I usually just watched all my shows on my Mac. for free.

basically what it is the apple tv device you get from apple is the receiver. you get an HD image and audio thru hdmi cable which you have to buy separately. the cost of it is about $99.99 plus tax at apple. basically you subscribe to the channels you want and pay a monthly fee , basically your controlling what your watching. i know a guy who jail breaks it and installs all the channels leafs tv, nba league pass, nhlcentre ice, free hd movies (over 77,000 of them), free ppv events including UFC and all. a ton of XXX channels too lol. costs $165 and its all yours. the streaming is over Wi-Fi. if you want a demo go search it on youtube apple tv demo. pretty sick.

What about NFL, NCAA and regular channels and nightly drama? This only works if the wife gets her shows too. What about tsn? Citytv and shit like that? Do not hold back.

I've been having a Roku and recently got an xbox360 which both give you access to a lot of free and pay internet TV channels. Does a jailbroken Apple TV appliance just allow you to access the pay channels for free? If so, that's pretty cool.

Chickened out on buying jailbroken iphones in the past, because of the cost and screwed if I ever needed technical support. This, however, is a small investment for the reward. Didn't know such a thing existed.
