you can use software that records whatever is being played on your sound card. but music on youtube is probably poor quality.

I use Replay Music. Unfortunately it's not free but there's a trial period.

Dave I, in my spare time do some music production work (for fun) for a few buddies. one is a rapper, one is a guitarist. My rapepr buddy wanted a "sound clip" from the HBO series "the wire"

I could only get the clip from youtube video, and I found know way to save the audio etc...

This is what you do if you have a PC or a Laptop with an audio in/out

Run your audio out into the AUDIO IN using a standard 1/8 inch to 1/8 inch adapter (5 USD) from a radio shack (dont know what you have there but look online)

Then open a audio recording program even windows audio recorder. Turn up your audio control on the "line in" and play the video/audio and hit record.

Book just like that you can steal any audio/video clip you want. I got the sample I needed doing that. Took a little bit of troubleshooting to figure out

wanted to add some laptops dont have a line in just a mic and headphone. The mic jack doesnt work as good as the line in function

I recommend using Sony Acid Xpress because it is free and available on the companys website. DJ'ing is a hobby of mine and I have a virtual DJ program I use in conjuction with turntables. I used the DJ program which you can aslo find for free but I think recording is disabled ont he shareware

If you need further help let me know, but once you record in records in MP3 format then just add to your player/hard drive whatever

LOLOLOL OL sorry E_Wrecked... you made my day, i try to figure how you look recording that way

so every ****ing Windows got a tool called Audia Recorder....

go to record options and there is an Option to record: 'what you hear'

i got no English Version of Windows here... but there you can enable recording that... where you would select 'Line in', 'Mic' or whatever channel to record...

...then you just play the clip and use teh windows recorder to record... save as WAV, MP3, whatever... still that method sucks... but better than recording via line out to line in cable or a microphone...

dude I have no idea what you just said. I dont know if you are making fun of me or giving me a pat on the back HAHAHA

If there is an option to record "what you hear" I dont know
I havent used the windos recorder since like 98' I use more professional based production software. If it's that simple then what I did was the long version. The audio was seamless and had no background noise

If it's as simple as "record what you hear" then Im stuck in the oldschool
