Attorney's, Judges and Mallers...

What is the penalty for a guilty verdict for Embezzelment (sp) of over $8,000 from a non - profit organization with no past criminal activity. This guy took checks from a museum that were signed over as donations made out to cash. He is a big name person here for this podunk area. Big family...

Here is his sentence,, 1 year probation 7am to 7pm curfew. He was given the money to pay the museum back and that has been done. He also is to pay the Museum $1000 a year for the next 10 years. The judge said he had the support of the community. All I will say is that people around here are plenty pissed and did not support his actions. One man got on the stand and talked about donating $1000 in honor of his wife who worked there for years. Why the checks were made out to cash is another animal.. Its the good old boy system. If it was joe blow he would have been swinging from the nearest tree.

I am not sure of the current laws, but back in the day Embezzelment laws were almost like a slap on the wrist.

while the criminal laws vary from state to state, that penalty seems appropriate--given the $$ amount involved and the fact that the $$ was re-paid.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?
