Australia, leave in a week

Getting very excited about my trip to Australia. Will be there for 2 months and maybe 3. Will be in Sydney, Victoria and will spend some time in Brisbane. Its going to be a whole new experience and I am nervious yet excited. Anyone has any heads up or things I should look into I would greatly appreciate it. I got some adaptors so my electrical products will work. 17 hours in a plane sounds like a nightmare. Good luck.

BP, will miss your send off but will definetly be looking for my volume in the Email. I can only imagine what its going to be like for you to walk away. Your new venture is one that I will look forward to. Maybe cross lines with a little help from the BPster. Its been nice, have all my emails together will send photos for sure. Enjoy enjoy Bro.

Hey Steel,

Knowing u are a big NFL fan u have to check out a Super 14 Rugby Union game! a little like the NFL but no pads and less stopages.

You won't be able to see any Super 14 games in (Melbourne) -Victoria.

But in Brisbane and especially Sydney there should be a game on.

The Sydney team is called the NSW Warratahs and they usually play at Aussie Stadium....oh I have just read u are there for 2-3 months there will be a game for sure provided u are leaving sometime in the next 10 weeks.

Sydney to see the Waratahs would be the go, they always play night games on either Fridays or saturday nights. If u go to a game vs one of the top teams the stadium will be near full around 45K.

Its a good night out even If the rules will be abit unfamiliar too, I think u will enjoy it.

Ok here are the NSW Waratahs upcoming home games :

Mar 4 Waratahs v Sharks Sydney 0430

Mar 10 Waratahs v Cats Sydney 0840

Mar 24 Waratahs v Blues Sydney 0905 *

Mar 31 Waratahs v Cheetahs Sydney 0905

Apr 16 Waratahs v Brumbies Sydney 0940 *

May 13 Waratahs v Hurricanes Sydney 0940 *

The three I have put the * next to are easily the better games with a better atmosphere, the others are games I wouldn't go to myself.

Try and make it to a * game.

March 24 ths sounds good Dave. Thanks so much for all the info. I love the NFL and a friend of mine got me into Rugby a few years back as he was the QB for San Diego State. Scrum half . Anyways its a fun game and I will be sure to take in some football while I am there. Thanks so much for the schedule its another thing I will have to pack . lol

Thanks for all the info, anything else would be greatly appreciated.

BP, I am going alone. I am meeting 2 other guys that I have yet to meet face to face. We all meet in San Fran and fly straight to New Zealand. Its going to be a trip for sure. Will send you photos as often as I can. I have a place for a month in Brisbane. To bad you couldn't get away. Stay in touch..

That March 24 game will be good. The Blues are a New Zealand team and in Sydney live alot of ex NZers. So the stadium will be pretty full so I suggest u get tickets at the latest 2 weeks before the game as it could sell out. Around $30 for a ticket in the not flash seats. If u can try and get side on to the game u can see much more than If u are watching from one of the ends.

You will find the prices very good (cheaper than an NFL game) and the US dollar has a very good conversion (although not as good as it used to be) to the Australian dollar. Eg. for $100 US u will get about $135 Australian.

Are u coming to New Zealand too ? or was that a typo ?

BTW it will be hot in all the places u are going in Australia, so u don't need to pack too many warm clothes at all eg. Jerseys etc.

Yes I fly into New Zealand and then off to Brisban. I fly back to New Zealand in 2 weeks for 3 days. They have me everywhere for periods of time. I get my final booklet tomorrow and then I should have all the dates. Hope I can stick to the schedule, I am 42 and this is going to be a culture shock. Not looking forward to saying goodbye to the family.
Dave where in Australia are you ?
