Terrible disaster. I also heard when they broke the news to the grandfather he died instantly of a massive heart attack

I heard the mother on the news say something to the effect that her daughter was wrong for driving, but it wasn't her fault she was killed.

Sad day for that family.

What is this world coming to letting a 15 year old drive just asking for trouble. I feel sorry for that family.

I'm not sure if the authorities have all the facts yet. Perhaps a more experienced driver would not have been caught in that sandwich. I know I always have one eye in the rear view for fast approaching vehicles from the rear. If I see a fast closing semi in the mirror, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down any, I would definitely look to take evasive action.

This is a tragic story but it all boils down to.....What was 15 year old doing behind the wheel in the first place?? This could all have been avoided.

I agree. I am a very cautious driver. I believe they should raise the age linit to drive a car.

I can't believe a mother would let a 15 year old drive kids home from school. Talk about lack of parental skills.

Safe to say you don't drive much sir. Anyone..I don't give a rats ass how carefull can be rearended. Tragic accident here. Regardless of the 15yo driving which is wrong...the driver of the truck will never be the same again. I could never ever live my life knowing I did that by not paying attention

This was a horrible story.

IMO this accident would have happened no matter who was driving that car.

As a parent who has a 15 year old son who has his restricted driver’s license and who will be getting his regular license in a few months – I am not sure there is a difference in 15/16. Now I probably would not let my son drive with 7 siblings at 15 but who knows what the circumstance was that led up to this happening. We do no that she did nothing wrong except get smashed in the back. It’s a tragic story. The parents seem to be pretty good people since I guess they adopted most of these kids and I am sure what they have to live with now is the unimaginable. Very sad!

nice post Jack...

If everyone thinks that they need to raise the driving age then quit waiting on congress to do it and don't let your kids drive....

I too think age has little to do with it...it is more about experience...and guess what...u dont get experience with video games...

It takes hours of driving with your kids at gas prices of $2.50 gallon....experience and discipline come with time...

If you are not going to teach your kids about what is right and what is wrong, why have kids at all??

I too have a 15 year old with a learners permit. This story is very sad. I can also say my daughter would not be driving a bunch of people around at the age of 15 regardless of the circumstances...even at 16 with a legal license as far as that goes...

my point exactly...

My daughter is 15 and very smart and the sweetest child I have ever known...but I would not trust her to drive in even a medium size town like Huntsville, Ala alone.

15 in my opinion is ok to operate a vehicle...with supervision, age is not the issue it is experience...I know people dont agree
