Question Bad Hard Drive

Any idea's on how to get the data off it, without having to take it in and pay $$$$.

Tried using getdataback to make an image, so many sectors errors making it extremely slow, plus the fact transferring the image to an external HD doesnt help.

2 hours in and not even at 1%

Do you have the ability to remove it and slave it to another HDD?

The only way I could get the computer to recognize the Bad HD was to use getbackdata.
Shows that the Bad HD is near capacity, but doesn't show what is on it.

Before the hdd went bad did you hear any clicking sounds or whirls, revving etc...
If you did then there might be a physical damage to the drive. If so take the hdd and wrap it in plastic or a ziplock bag and freeze the hdd for about 6 hours. Then take the hdd out of the freezer and then the wrapping and slave it to another drive you may lose some data but not all.
If this isn't the case you probably have a logic problem with the drive i.e. bad partition, corrupted data, virus etc... I use EASEUS Todo Backup its freeware and works well to do recovery of files and make backups. This should get the files for you or allow you to clone the drive somewhere if it was a physical problem with the hdd. Hope this helps if not let me know and I assist further.

If your reading that many bad sectors you contracted a virus. Now we have to quarantine it plus save what is avail on your Hdd. To this point what have you done to the Hdd?

You can use Windows Disk Manager tool to check for file system errors
and bad sectors on your hard disk.
To check your drives:
1- right click on drive and click Properties
2- click Tools tab and under Error-checking, click Check Now
3- in dialog box select the Automatically fix file system errors
or/and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box Automatically fix file system errors
