Banking

I have Wells Fargo now but they like to charge a lot of fees. Thinking about switching to Washington Mutual. It's a shame because I've been with Wells Fargo for about 17 years.

Any recommended banks?

I have banked with Hibernia for several years but they were hurt pretty bad by Katrina (based in New Orleans) and were recently bought out by Capital One. So far, I am impressed with Capital One and their checking is truly free. Other than ordering new checks ($18.50) I have not paid a fee of any kind and they even pick up the ATM fees from other banks. Their customer service has also been first rate so far.

Bank of America is by far the best I've used. And with thier new promotion any time you use your bank card for purchases, they round up to the nearest dollar and place the change in your savings.

Is it your own money that they place in savings? So if you buy something for $5.30, they'll take $6.00 out of your checking and put 70 cents in your savings? Just curious because I wouldn't think they would pay the money, that would add up to be alot.

No...If you spend $5.30, they take that amount out of your checking account and will deposit $0.70 in your savings at no cost to you. It's a great deal.

wow..serious? If they did that for every transaction and for every customer, that's got to add up to millions of dollars. Is there a yearly limit?

I just saw the commercial, they round up to the next dollar & take the change out of your checking & transfer it to your savings account.
