Best Athlete in all sports today

After watching a 6'2" 43 yr old Randy Couture manhandle a 6'8" Tim Sylvia for the UFC Heavyweight Title last night, I would have to say Randy is the MAN!!!

He was giving up six inches, twelve years and forty pounds... and DOMINATED the fight - all 5 rounds!!!

UNREAL!!!

Beating a guy in a fight doesn't make him athletic. How about Ron Mexico or Kobe Bryant or somebody like that? I'd say Ron Mexico AKA Mike Vick.

Post who you want but Romes is right, the best athletes in the world are the best fighters in the world. They have to be skilled in their sport, and they are the most heavily conditioned. Plus it's one thing to take an elbow from Shaq or get your bell rung from a Middle Linebacker...Go a few rounds at your local boxing training spot and then post. Secondly, the fear is the ultimate obstacle to overcome in a sport, fighters have to overcome the most fear...what does Kobe fear? Injury hindering his career...failing in front of millions...But never his life in most cases.

But if I had to say a non-fighter, I would go with LT or a Rugger - where's Dave NZ when you need him?
