LeBron James - best overall athlete in the NBA and the skills to be a freakishly good WR or TE in the NFL (his first true love has always been football).

Ted Ginn Jr. - WR/CB/KR/PR and had the ability to be an Olympic high jumper had football not gotten in the way.

Others... Julius Peppers, Dwight Howard, Gerald Wallace, LaDainian Tomlinson, Lance Armstrong, Ichiro...

Shaq is a dominating center in the NBA, end of story. I would never, ever, consider him a one of the best athletes over the last 5 years. If anything the guy gives athletes a bad name with his work ethic.

I would put these two up towards the top of the list:

Ronaldinho
LaDainian Tomlinson
