Best baseball season ever

One player, one year

Some people might think it's the 2001 (73 HRs) Barry Bonds
or the 1968 Bob Gibson (1.12 era)

how about the 1939 joe dimaggio (56 game hit streak, .381 BA )

any one season stand out more than another in your mind?

personally I'll say the 1941 Ted Williams (.406 BA) even though incredibly he didn't win AL MVP that season

Williams, best hitter to ever play the game.

1968 year for Bob Gibson:

His earned run average was 1.12 over 304 2/3 innings pitched.

He recorded 13 shutouts.

From June 2 to July 30, Gibson allowed only two earned runs in ninety-two innings pitched (0.20 ERA).

Gibson also pitched 47 consecutive scoreless innings, at the time the third-longest scoreless streak in major league history.

Gibson also won the National League MVP Award, the last MVP won by a National League pitcher to date.

Gibson was 22-9 that year even with five 1-0 losses due to his team's low run support.

Gibson only gave up 11 home runs in 304 2/3 innings.

In Game 1 of the 1968 World Series, Gibson struck out 17 Detroit Tigers to set a World Series record for strikeouts in one game, which still stands today.

Pedro in 1999. His numbers, all star game. Each one of his starts wasn't to be missed.

Even more impressive considering it was in the height of the steroid era...
