Best stadium experience/live sporting event?

What is your favorite stadium to go see a sporting event in? What makes the experience best for you? (atmosphere, food, quality of teams, stadium quality)? Can a terrible stadium ruin a great event, and can a great stadium make up for a mediocre game?

College Park, MD for a Maryland vs. Duke basketball game.

What makes this game so great for me is the electric atmosphere. The hatred towards the Blue Devils is quite surreal and I am sure it is intimidating for new players@duke. Sometimes I feel I a

I bring this up because I have noticed that I loved going to PNC Park because of the great stadium even though the team was terrible, and hated going to the Civic Arena when the Pens were great, because the building was terrible....so for me, the stafium can make up for the team and vice versa....

Oakland Coliseum (or whatever they are gonna call it this year). I was raised a jet fan because even though i was born on the west coast, Parents are east coasters that moved out west. Anyway about 10 years ago a few friends from socal got transferred to work in the bay area so i went up there for a jets raiders game.

I have been to every game between the jets/raiders since and no matter what will at least go up there for one game a year. It is chaos on earth, especially a playoff game. Most of the fans are felons and just crazy. The parking lot is a giant party and the police dont care about anything, unless someone is getting killed.

I havent been to a lot of east coast stadiums, but i did see a game in the original yankee stadium. Just being in there thinking about the history of that place was great

Best:
1) Oriole Park @ Camden Yards. Yanks were in town. Awesome place to watch a game. Found a cool pub (wanna say it was near the corner of the left field foul pole--was 2001-2002), the place was packed 3-4 hrs before the game. Good times.

2) Invesco Field. Been to several games there but when NE played Denver in a playoff game 4-5 years ago on that Saturday night--WOW. The town was a buzz all day and the night didn't disappoint. Absolutely electric.

3) Dodger Stadium. As a life-long Dodger fan I got to go there for the 1st time 3 years ago. We had "dugout" seats. I was 1st base thru home extended, 4 rows up. Tommy Lasorda was 10-12 feet from me. Dogout seats included the buffet, which was prime rib, fish, kick-ass salad bar, etc.

Honorable mention: Coors Field (was great w/ the packed house in the "Blake Street Bomber" days. Pepsi Center (Lakers/Nugs playoff)

Worst, by far: Metrodome.

I am really glad to hear this. Camden Yards is such a great great ballpark. I think anyone that has been there definitely has to agree. You have the brick from the warehouse in right field. The green wooden seats. The city scenery in the outfield. it is just such a great place to watch a ball game and isnt over the top like some of the new ball parks. Like I've been to Nationals ballpark, and its like you are at a carnival and not a ballgame.

Surprised to hear it was packed 3-4 hrs before the game. A decade later, I think you are lucky that is half packed ... Peter Angelos has caused me to not like the Orioles as much anymore, and Dan Snyder turned me into a Baltimore Ravens fan.

lol, my bad...was talking about the PUB we drank at 3-4 hrs prior to game-time.

on a side note, w/ all the yanks fans there one couldn't tell who was the home team.

Best time I ever had was at a sporting event was at the Horseshoe in Cbus for a Buckeye/Wolverine game. What a party and what an atmosphere.

Favourite local stadium was Maple Leaf Gardens. Every stadium in Toronto sucks now for atmosphere/experience.

Camden Yards was definitely a good one. Was there once or twice when I was younger. Had a good time and great seats. Loved the entire ballpark. View was great.

Beaver Stadium for a PSU game. Just a fun and loud atmosphere there. Love the tailgate before hand although they are cracking down more now.

Seriously? IMO oakland is the worse place to see a game. The stadium sucks and watching the game with a bunch of gangbangers is not my idea of a good time. My wife used to work for the radio station that broadcasted the raiders games so she could get free tickets. I passed on every game except when they played SD.

1. Rose Bowl (ASU vs Nebraska) - unbelievable atmostspere and game. Great athletes in that game as well.

2. Horshoe in Columbus (OSU vs Wash St) when WSU was good team. Whta a party and what an atmospere. Good times all around.

honorable mention: When Trevor Hoffman use to come into a game with Hells Bells. That shit was awesome!

cali I have seen several games at the Horseshoe, and the atmosphere and party are great, but the stadium is such a piece of shit, that it always kills it for me, and I usually end up wanting to either get really drunk, or get the hell out of there....
