BetFirstClass Issue

My story goes like this...deposited a nice chunk of change cuz I wanted to bet the fantasy football option which i never did anyway but went on a nice streak and was up pretty big and then got cold and lost some back and then decided to cash out. Asked them to send me a check which took a week which was no big deal i was happy i got it...took it to the bank and when i tried to deposit it, they told me because the check was from a different country BUT was written in US dollars, the check would have to go to collections and would take 4-6 weeks to collect. I have a very popular large bank so it was not anything to do with MY bank. I called Bet3rdClass and they tell me some song and dance how their cant do anything about it till next week cuz their boss was out of town yada yadda yadda but they got me to put it BACK into my account with a free play they offered if i did that which I took stupidly because i was on a cold streak and we all know what happened. Lesson learned. Sure I put the money back into my account but having to wait 4-6 weeks is BS

but the reason it was gonna take that long sounds like its more because of your bank's policies and not bfc

did they say it was because of the account that the check came from, or because it was from out of country in us dollars?

because it was in US dollars from a costa rican bank. Costa rica has their own money so it should have been in their currency. I bet your bank has the same policy. What happens is that it gets sent to the foreign collections department and it takes many weeks. The book knew that believe me

did u ask for ur withdrawal to be in currency other than the currency used to wager with?

If u wager in US dollars, they would probably assume that you want your withdrawal in the same.

unless otherwise requested?

Think its a little much to call a book "scandalous" for this, imo

It's your banks fault not BFC. My bank did that to me once on a check from betjam, so I don't deposit checks with that bank anymore. Problem solved.

KidThunder, this is the first that I have heard of your problem and am a little surprised that you didn't contact me about it.

Different banks have different policies regarding international checks but I have never heard of a bank saying that it would take 6 weeks for one to clear. We send out checks just like yours all the time with no problems whatsoever.

I am confident that you received the check from us promptly after requesting it and if I had known of your dilemma, I would gladly have made other arrangements to get you your funds right away.

I'm sorry that you seem blame our shop for your bank's policies and I wish that I had been given a chance to assist you.

as an ex-banker, this is a common problem. the only way to get around this is for the issuer (BFC) to issue a U.S. dollar check (or money order) drawn on a U.S. bank.

This is not a BFC issue at all, more of international banking laws/rules. Also, it could take up to 6 weeks.

Banks don't like checks from other countries. I learned that a long time ago. When I request a withdrawal from an offshore operation I never ever request a check. I don't use BFC, but surely they offer another method.
