BETonSPORTS Indictment uncorks online gambling Pandora's Box

BETonSPORTS Indictment uncorks online gambling Pandora's Box
Fear turned into panic at the end of the third day after BETonSPORTS Indictment and the arrest of the Company CEO in Dallas. Gaming stocks are nose diving on the London Stock Exchange, Igotsportsbook.com management is said to be hiding, and betmania.com is getting under the spotlight.

Pandora was the first woman according to Greek mythology. Entrusted with a box containing all the ills that could plague people, she opened it out of curiosity and thereby released all the evils of human life. BETonSPORTS indictment appear to have produced the same devastating effects in the gambling industry.

All gaming stocks nose-dived on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) today. Graphic charts of Sportingbet plc, Leisure and Gaming, Party Gaming all pointing south, deep south. Time to buy, stock analysts suggested. The Board of Directors of BETonSPORTS plc asked and obtained the suspension of trading on AIM of the company stocks to avoid a foreseeable catastrophic plunge of its securities.

Meanwhile panic is also spreading amongst operators related to Gary Kaplan and Norm Steinberg, two of the 11 recipients of Monday's Indictments. Kyle Gabriel, general manager of Igotsportsbook.com, is reportedly hiding. According to Costa Rican sources Gary Kaplan is the main man behind Igotsportsbook. The company was launched few weeks after Kaplan sold his last shares in BETonSPORTS.

Recently founded betmania.com is also said to be in turmoil. According to insiders Norm Steinberg is one of the principals behind the new sports book.

Ironically enough Steinberg recently threatened to report the owner of a known gambling site to the DoJ and the IRS. "I'm sure you're aware of the fact that the DoJ frowns on US citizens who perpetuate offshore sports books, especially those who reside on North American soil.” Steinberg told Ken Weitzner of XXX.com in an email dated November 15th 2005. "Did you report all of this revenue to the IRS? Does the CID of the IRS and the DoJ know that you were an agent for an offshore sportsbook in the past?" asked an irate Steinberg.

"It’s about time I found some ways to shut your *ucking mouth once and for all." concluded Steinberg. Few months after these disturbing threats Steinberg found himself indicted on various charges and on the run. He resides in Costa Rica and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Karma, observers said.

The vast majority of online gaming operators are on a cautious wait-and-see mode. Keeping the lowest profile during these rough times is the general consensus amongst all Bookmakers but one, stubbornly fearless Calvin Ayre of Bodog.com. He is scheduled to open the Bodog Marketing Conference in Las Vegas on July 23. All his colleagues believe he's next in line to join David Carruthers' fate. “Calvin gets arrested -2000, that’s the line” a top Bookmaker told XxxXxxxxxXxxx.com.

All industry's eyes are focused on the Las Vegas Marketing Conference and it’s unfolding. Will Calvin Ayre keep his word and inaugurate his third annual conference and, most important, will he find federal agents patting on his shoulder?

Some panic, others cheer. "We're very pleased that the Justice Department is taking action here with the laws they have available," Rep.Goodlatte, R-Va, co-sponsors of HR 4411, also known as online gambling ban, told Reuters. "We join with them in trying to make it clear that the law covers all forms of gambling."

Here is the letter posted at another website. I'm guessing its an email that was sent.

To all Bodog.com Marketing Conference Media Attendees:>>
> >
“The Bodog.com Marketing Conference presents a wonderful opportunity for good discussion about marketing, customer service and about the growth of our industry; however, in the last few days, many of you who planned to attend the conference have expressed a high level of concern over the uncertainty surrounding the U.S. government’s recent actions against one of the companies in our industry. It is in light of these concerns that we have decided to postpone the Bodog.com Marketing Conference to a later date and at an international location. This decision ensures that the focus of the conference will not be lost. >>
>>
The scheduled Party, however, will go on as planned at Tao at the Venetian on Tuesday, July 25th at 9 p.m. If you plan on attending the party as our guest, please RSVP: rsvp@bodog.com. If you would like to cover the party as a photographer or with a TV crew, please contact Susan Mainzer on smainzer@riptown.com. >>
>>
Each of you will be fully refunded for any travel expenses you incur that can not be refunded via your travel providers. If you are still traveling to Vegas for pleasure or to cover the World Series of Poker we will refund any change fees you incur. If you would like to keep your reservations at the Wynn, please call us immediately at 1-866-591-0217. >>
>>
I apologize for any inconveniences this has caused you, but in spite of what has happened of late we chose to act with your best interests in mind. I assure you that we will make it up to you with a bigger and better conference to be announced in the near future. >>
> >
Bodog.com will carry on our business as usual and will continue to lead the way in digital entertainment.>>
