The Betting Gods are some sick Bastards

Isn't it amazing ...
you can look so good in a bet, but heaven help you if you mark it down as a win before the game is over, it is like a slap in the face to the Gambling Gods & those fu*kers will make you pay every single mothefu**ing time.

Took the Wild tonite in NHL. The amazing thing about their 7-0-1 record entering tonite was that they hadn't scored more than 3 goals in any game all season & they were undefeated in that span. To say that in order to accomplish that, you have to have tremendous defense & goaltending would be an understatement.

Well, midway thru just the 1st Period in their matchup tonite vs. Calgary, it was 3-0 Wild & this score seemed certain of 2 things ...

1) MIN was going to win again, because 3 goals had been more than enough in every game so far this season & ...

2) they were finally going to score more than 3 goals too, as it was already 3-0 & there was still 50 minutes of game yet to be played.

I knew I shouldn't have done it ... I actually sensed it was bad karma, but I marked it as a win anyway & went about my merry evening, but no sooner had I done so, than a little red light went off in the Gambling Gods' Office ... "ALERT, ALERT, some jerk has tempted fate & prematurely counted a win" & since it was a slow night in sports, the Gambling Gods obviously had nothing better to do, so they decide to entertain themselves & the Calgary goal onslaught began ...

3-1 ... 3-2 ... 3-3 ... 3-4 ... 3-5

seriously, I hope they are still watching me, because they can SUCK MY D*&%!

That is rich, I too have done that a couple of time many years ago, and like you, I even knew I shouldn't do it because of karma, yet I did it anyways and you know how that turns out. Now I never ever mark a game as a win until I see FINAL.

That is funny that it happens to others too, Just Karma I guess.

I've tried to trick the Gambling Gods before by prematurely marking games as a Loss when it's a tie game, but that never seems to work.

I'm not superstitious but I found the same thing if I mark a bet as a win before the game is over it'll find a way to lose. So now, I never do it lol.

about 3 saturday's ago i had a great day going and one last game around 10PM or so was finishing up. I really wanted to close out my spreadsheet so I marked the 14 point lead ats team as the winner for myself, knowing just what you said might apply.

By the time i finished updating the spreadsheet with that one marked as a win, a quick refresh on the scoreboard showed it a 7 point lead, then a tie within about 1 minute. Not surprisingly, within another click or two they were actually down by 7 and I was going to lose, so I switched the spreadsheet marking to a LOSS.

After changing it to a loss, i clicked refresh and the game was tied. I had a +3 spread so OT was looking really good for me.

Click the refresh -- it shows the game over in OT with the other team winning by 3, so it should have been a tie.

I changed my spreadsheet to show the game as a tie. At this point, i'm pretty ****ing tired of changing the spreadsheet!

I go to cappersmall to update my record and check things out, and what do I see? Someone has started a thread that says, "Can you believe the cheesy cover that ABC got?"...so I clicked it and found out that the site I was using had the wrong final! My team won outright and the other team lost by 3....

so i went back to the spreadsheet and recorded a WIN.
