Bible, fact or fiction?

Since so many here completely disavow science, I imagine we have a bunch of loons on the this side of the spectrum.......Those who believe the planet is 8,000 years old and dinosaurs were here that short time ago......that Jesus walked on water, that Moses parted seas, and that eating a cracker each week gives you the right to tell women what they can do with their bodies......

I look at the Bible as lessons, morals and values of how to live your life.

I believe the Bible has fact and fiction. I believe that the events occurred, but are dramatized when retold in the Bible.

I think the fundamentalists or whatever believe the Earth is 6,000 years old, not 8,000 years old. It was supposedly created on Oct 23rd, 4004 BC.

Also, they don't think dinosaurs were here. I believe the common stance is the Earth "was created to look artificially old."

Aside from that, you conclude that those who don't accept global warming as fact are disavowwing science, but that is wrong. Most, including me, who laugh at the climate change agenda, came to our opinions through science. Read my response in that thread.

The bible is largely fiction, but if some people take those lessons and use them to become better people, that is fine with me.

Personally, I believe in nothing metaphysical.

I think its funny that a a simple dichotomy you suggest is about smart and dumb

yes all people of faith are dumb

are you serious?

this is the most played out debate ever, akin with a teenager coming of age figuring out the world

i never said it was about smart or dumb at all.....but if people who disavow science, but who want the government to legislate based on the work of fiction they believe in (abortion, holy wars, homosexuals), than it is much bigger than you make it out to be romo.......and just as valid an argument as legislating according to global waring studies, which are actually based on fact......

no this was your adolescent way of debating the global warming, which you cant

so you poke at religion, with useless insults that mean nothing

the lowest form of some theological debate, that no matter how intelligent either argument, is never won

there are ZERO facts that support man made global warming

no matter how many times you say its true...did you read any of the supporting evidence that denies it? or is it you who is party drone

every planet in our solar system had the same delta increase in temp over the last 12 years

care to go back and debate in the other thread...go for it

religion is what it is. I'm Catholic, but I rarely go to Church and commit plenty of sins. But I respect other peoples views and religions. Is it mostly bullshit? Probably. People need something to believe in sometimes

this topic has a horrifying recoil factor, why even bring it up

some people have faith, some people don't, some people see the bible as a metaphor, some as absolute fact

its all commentary heading nowhere
