Billy Gardell: Halftime - World Premiere

Saturday Night, February 5 at 9:00 p.m.... (Night before the Superbowl)

Billy Gardell is the star of the hit sitcom "Mike and Molly" and is taking his comedy to the stage. Performing "Halftime" from his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, Gardell rants about childhood relationships, technology overload, parenting and dealing with a mild mid-life crisis. No teleprompter here, just a microphone and his thoughts. Billy has appeared in dozens of television series, including “Yes, Dear,” “My Name Is Earl,” “The King of Queens” and “Desperate Housewives.” But his first love (apart from his Steelers) has always been stand-up comedy where his disarming no nonsense approach to life continues to sell out comedy clubs and theaters nationwide.

The Funniest Stand-up ever filmed in Pittsburgh, look for "SL" waving the Towel in the Crowd....

His bold honest and overwhelming stage persona made him an instant hit with Florida audiences. By the summer of 1989, only two years into the business and still not old enough to legally drink alcohol, Billy Gardell was the most requested act among the regular patrons at Bonkers Comedy Club in Orlando, Billy’s home club. Word of the young gun from the South spread quickly through the comedy that his stand up show is a powerhouse.

Billy isn’t your average Hollywood success story. No GQ genetics, no family in the business, no coattails to ride. He took the long road to get here, stopping at every small town honky-tonk, military base, and comedy club along the way. Anywhere he could find a live audience.

Billy started early in stand up and got good fast; headlining some clubs before he was legal at the door. But that didn’t stop him from being as big a hit at the bar as he was on stage. After all, the kid was living his dream and following in the footsteps of his idol, Jackie Gleason.

As every comic quickly learns when they arrive in L.A., all those years of toiling in the clubs to become a great comic don’t mean a thing in Hollywood. You start working your way up all over again. But before long, Billy have built quite impressive acting resume for himself with regular guest appearances on My Name is Earl, The Practice, Yes Dear, Monk, Judging Amy, Desperate Housewives as well as a co-starring role in the critically acclaimed FX series Lucky. On the big screen, Billy made his film debut alongside Anthony Quinn and Sylvester Stallone in Avenging Angelo and afterwards scored a rather memorable scene with Billy Bob Thornton in the Cohen Brother’s Bad Santa.

Billy Gardell, Pittsburgh native and star of the CBS Series "Mike and Molly," will lead a Terrible Towel Twirl along with Wiz Khalifa prior to kickoff of the AFC Championship game.

Maybe the other guy could just "WIZ" on the yellow rag while ol Billy waves it. Would be more entertaining.
