Is BMI accurate?

According to the BMI Table

<18.5 = Underweight
18.5-24.9 = Normal
25-29.9 = Overweight
>30 = Obese

I'm 5'11" and 191 lbs....which seems pretty normal to me. But it's a BMI of 26.6, which is supposedly overweight. Do you think this is an accurate way to define fitness? Or is it outdated?

If you want to check yours, here's the link.

It is usually pretty accurate. HOWEVER If you are a male who carries alot of muscle mass (many athletes and Trossi) it is misleading.

We actually justed studied this in one of my classes. I think it is way off. According to the BMI Brad Pitt and Will Smith are overweight?????? Something wrong there. Body fat is a much closer way to measure.

You are right body fat is a better measure. You will find Smith and Pitt both have alot of lean muscle which is what I was saying before.
