Book Question...

I know I am at risk of being called a nerd, but I'm going to pose the question anyway...

I've been travelling a bit lately and thus I have started to read a book or two (while on the planes). The first one (Lones Survivor - great book about a seal incursion in Afganistan) was about 400 pages and the font was a nice easy to read size. The pages were wide as well. Very easy to read and not stressful on the hands to keep wide open for (again) ease of reading. Airplane reading... shadows, bad light, uncomfortable seating... is why this question pops up...

Now, I'm on to another book... the pages are not very wide, it's about 550 pages with slighly smaller font. I was just wondering if anyone knew or had any theories on how a publisher chooses the size of the pages and the font. I prefer the first book mentioned as it lays open easier with the fewer, wider pages...

Well, I found the answer (I think)... I know so many of you can't wait...

It basically revolves around paper size that is bought in bulk and whether or not the press has to be changed to accomodate your desired size... So, in the end, it's all about $$$. Damn, and I thought there was so much more to it...

Lloyd: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of shit, man.

Have you looked into the Kindle? It is a wireless reading device. If you read a lot, then it may be worth it in the long run.

Thanks fellas. I don't read a lot (BoSox) - only on the plane when I travel... 6 or so times a year...

YOu would think a guy who's name is "The Judge" might appreciate a little reading...

Anyway, lets just hit on the Library for a second... many of these "Libraries" as you say have secret passages to whore/gambling houses. I've READ about them and seen them on TV specials too...

I think there's a bar in Dallas called the Library if I'm not mistaken...

I may have to wait until those things become commonplace... That's a long time to get that ROI
