Booze free--what would happen to professional sports if...

they implemented an alcohol free policy at all events?

Or, what if they set aside a designated area(s) for the sales of alcohol at events? An outfield seating area with one or two additional rooms/eating areas where alcohol could be consumed but not leave the area.

I attend alot of outdoor, nonsports events which draw good crowds. Those with the designated alcohol areas tend to do better than those without. And, the drunks are all confined to one area.

It's a joke that they stop selling in 3rd quarter like it means everyone sobers up in time and drives home

When I was with my kids, I wished this sometimes

But it does make it more fun. always fun to watch some drunk idiot opposing fan get beat up

speaking on the basis of the nonsports events I participate in who have implemented the designated drinking zones, attendance is actually up for them when compared to not selling alcohol as well as having selling it at every other booth.

Like sports events, these are events which could capture a larger family attendance if the atmosphere is conducive to family participation. Dont get me wrong, the booze vendors make out like bandits when alcohol flows freely. The event promoters, who are much more dependent on the largest paid gate possible, dont reap the large rewards in that scenario.

Have had numerous conversations with promoters who have tried the different options. Most seem to believe the designated drunk area yields the greatest profits for them.

Not sure how this would affect a major league stadium which sells out all of its games.
