Talking Brett Favre's sister arrested at Diamondhead meth lab

DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLOX) – The younger sister of football great Brett Favre was arrested Wednesday, along with four others, at the site of a meth lab in Diamondhead.

Hancock County narcotics agents discovered the active meth lab inside a condo unit in the heart of the normally quiet, upscale community. And while the discovery may be a surprise to many, it wasn't to neighbors.

A drug sale at the front of Diamondhead led investigators to the operation on Golf Club Drive.

"We bought some meth off of an individual and that's what led us to this location here," said Matt Karl, Director of the Hancock County Narcotics Task Force.

Once Narcotics agents entered the condo, they were shocked at what they found.

"When we arrived, there were a couple of people coming out of the house and the chemical smell was just overwhelming. It was pretty bad. And then we discovered the full lab in the bathroom; it was still cooking. I think we collected pretty close to ten grams of finished product, which, that's a lot of meth."

Officials immediately evacuated seven of the closest condo units. The bust came as no surprise to neighbors. One woman who didn't want to be identified said she's been suspicious for a long time.

"I have witnessed people coming and going at all hours of the night for the two years I've lived here," she said. "It's been going on for two years, and I have complained to the security in Diamondhead. And I have gotten no results. I am delighted to see this."

Neighbors said they had even noticed strange odors coming from the condo.

"I can't describe the smell, but a very, very strange smell," another neighbor recalled. "And I even went next door and knocked on his door and asked him if he would see if something was on fire over there, because I smelled something horrible. And he told me he had been cooking pork chops."

Narcotics agents say the cooking they uncovered is extremely dangerous, and could have caused an explosion.

"In the past two or three years, I think this is about our fifth one we got in Diamondhead. I mean, you don't think about that," Karl said. "Meth labs in Diamondhead. Yes, they are here. And we're working on them, and we're going to get them out of here."

Those arrested include Brandi Favre, David Logan, Marty Grimes, Alesha Kirkland and Carl Wynn, III. All are charged with manufacturing of meth, possession of a controlled substance, transferring a controlled substance and generation of hazardous waste.

Neighbors were allowed to return to their homes a few hours after they were evacuated.

Maybe I am the only one, but I am surprised when I read this. I never envisioned anyone from his family being in the drug game. I guess as the old saying goes, when it rains, it does indeed pour.

My bro-in-law is a realtor here and has 2 4-plexes and 4-5 houses for rentals. 1 of his rentals was used as a meth lab. Insurance paid to gut the house and remodel.

This happens in families all the time. This is not news worthy and Farve family should have been spared the BS.

I have known the Favre family for a very long time, and there is a close relation of Favre's who has been doing meth, crank, coke, etc. for many, many years. He is the kind of guy that will tell you he hasn't been to sleep in 4 or 5 days when you see him. He is probably involved in this lab in some way, as it seems very much like him.

As nice as Brandi is, she has periodically made some pretty bad choices in friends. When Brett was with the Falcons, or maybe had just gone to Green Bay, Brandi was arrested for being in the car of someone at the time they did a drive-by shooting. This was big local news at the time, so I'm not telling any secrets here. She subsequently transferred from USM to South Alabama to get away from those people, as her family didn't need that negative publicity. At around the same time, Brett's older brother Scott, who had been a QB at Mississippi State, ran through a down crossing arm as a train crossing, wrecked, and his friend and passenger died. Scott had house arrest, I believe for 2 years. Brett's younger brother Jeff smartly moved to Green Bay after getting his degree and started working in insurance, mostly to not be anywhere near the chaos. I know of only one bad, illegal thing Jeff was involved in. It was with Brett when he was with Atlanta, but they were never caught, so I won't mention it here.
