Bush signs port-security, Internet gaming bill

Associated Press

WASHINGTON — President Bush signed a bill today to help prevent terrorists from sneaking a nuclear, chemical or germ weapon into the United States inside one of the 11 million shipping containers that enter the nation each year — many without inspection.

"We're going to protect our ports. We're going to defend this homeland, and we're going to win this war on terror,'' Bush said.

The president used the bill-signing ceremony to assert that Republicans are tough on terror, a key issue in congressional elections just less than four weeks away.

He didn't mention an unrelated provision that seeks to put teeth into laws that forbid most online gambling. Instead, Bush focused on the multiple ways the legislation tightens security and closes a loophole in anti-terror defenses, especially at ports.

Bush is a recovering drug abuser and alcoholic. We should go find a homeless guy that likes gambling and support him for President in 2008 the same way the evangelical nutjobs pushed Bush into office.

Sneaking the Internet Gaming Bill onto the end of a worthwhile(?) Port Security Bill reminds me of our very own Govt.

There was an outcry in the aftermath of 911 in the UK as a Party Official suggested to Tony Blair that it may be a good idea to release bad news, while Britain and the wolrd media was quite rightly focused on New York

Maybe I'll be joining you all in Canada soon too.

One hardly has much to do with the other. So mis-guided.
