Can Dogs die from eating to much

I have had at least two if not 3 dogs all of my life. Partial to labs but I do have a jackrussel Beagel mix that is the bomb. Anyways I have always fed my dogs twice a day a cup in the morning with a milkbone and a cup in the afternoon with a milkbone. Decided to change their eating habits and just put out a large amount of dog food and let them eat it when they want. Well that didn't work because my lab at so much it threw up and then it started to eat again. By the time I got home it was in what I am calling a food coma. Dog started to cry and my wife took it to the vet. I guess changing a dogs eating habits is not a good idea.

changing eating habits not good at all...my dog gets a bowl filled in the morning...he eats it throughout the course of the day...and will fill it when it is finished...but this has been the routine since we got him

in order to leave dog food out all day,you must teach them to only eat when hungry or you are screwed

Dog is home and laying around more then usual. Doc told my wife not to change his eating habits. Doc told her they can't die but they can get ruptures. We have to watch for blood in his stools. I am really looking forward to this.

Stick to feeding your dogs twice a day. Here`s how I feed my 3 dogs. Once in the morning then an Iams bone. A treat around noon. Then late afternoon they eat again and get an Iams dog bone. They have me on a schedule and know exactly when it`s time to eat. lol

Wrong

Some dogs are "Gobblers" and will eat everything in site..some are smarter and will eat only when they are hungry. I have an 80 lb, standard poodle and I always have a full bowl for her. she ate yesterday for the first time in 2 days, and ate just 1/2 her bowl, about 2 cups..left 2 and they are still there for her

I have two Jack Russell terriers (Yes, I am insane....blame the wife), both of them will only eat if you are standing or sitting near the food dish with them. If the food bowl is in the bathroom, they only go in and eat when you are in there with them. When you leave, they grab a couple of pebbles and take off with you, weirdest thing.

We just had a newborn baby and the oldest one is obsessed with the kid. Won't leave his side, and isn't eating. Has lost 2 pounds in the two weeks we have had the baby. Every time the baby cries, he starts to shake terribly and whines....even puked the other day he was so upset at the crying.

Do I have weird pets, or has this happened to anybody else?

Years ago when my son was just 1 or 2 years old, we had a small schnauzer. No one other than immediate family could get near my son.

My present dog (unlike DHunter) will ONLY take a dump in 2 places in my yard

My poodles have food out all the time. They eat when they want and never over eat. But if you give them table scraps whole different story.
